But do they really exist? I don’t really know.
But 1917 two girls (Francis Griffiths and Elsie Wright)
claimed to have photographeda couple of fairy’s in
Cottingley in Yorkshire.
And Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published a book 1922 by the
name
“The coming of the fairy’s” on the topic.
Two experts from Kodak lab examined the photographs
and they couldn’t se any flaws in the pictures.
Still today some people think that the pictures are real
and some don’t.
So, the mystery lingers
on.
Then what is a fairy?
The fairy’s is one
of many supernatural beings that are supposed to live in
every forest around the world.
(If we believe in folklore) Some people think they are
fallen angels other that they are ancestors to the old
gods
that have bean replaced by new ones, and that they are
hostile.
But then again other say that they don’t care about
people at all, they just live in the forest minding
their own business.
But sometimes they help people and is loving and
nursing. Some people even states that they have had love
affairs with a fairy,
but they almost always ended up in misery.
There are also ufologists that say that the folklore
stories about fairy’s
and other supernatural beings are about close encounters
with UFO’s.
So, you can see that there are many theories on the
subject
so which of them that are correct, I don’t know.
Or if they even exists. But I find them intriguing,
don’t you?
Now too examples from where I live
Where I come from
we have a being by the name “skogsrået” (Swedish) the
closest translation I know is
the siren of the woods. So, from now on I will call it
“the siren”.
The siren is a beautiful young woman that lures men to
get lost in the woods.
She teas them and flirts with them so that they
follows her deeper and deeper into the forest
And when they can’t find there way back home she turns
her back at them.
And when she does, they see the most horrible thing
you can imagine.
Cos’ her back is just a big hole. It looks like a
rotten stub. After that, the siren just disappear
And leave the man to wander around in the forest until
he starves to death.
So, here comes a warning to you. If you se a lovely
woman in the woods you’ll have to be careful,
You never know what you might find.
And now to a kinder being that in Sweden is called
“hustomten” but I’ll call it Brownie
Cos’ I think you are more familiar with that name.
The Brownie is a little being that lives in stables
and farmhouses.
He is like a helping hand at the farm he takes care
of the animals and guards the farm.
But if you don’t treat him right he’ll get mad and
cause many problems.
One thing that he is very fond of is porridge.
Many older people still believes in the brownie for
example I knew an old woman
that placed a plate with porridge at her balcony to
the brownie,
even thou she lived on the third floor.
So, when you do your morning porridge don’t forget
the brownie, he might get mad.
